Abstract

Abstract A thinly woven textile prosthetic implant such as a vascular graft may be implanted by catheter implantation. The implant includes an elongate tubular body formed of a woven fabric having a fabric thickness no greater than about 0.16 mm. The tubular body includes a series of longitudinally spaced wave-like generally uniform crimps along the length thereof. The crimps are disposed at a fine pitch along the length of the tubular body. The amplitude of the crimps is relatively small thus reducing the formation of thrombus and plaque on the inside of the implant. <MATH>

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 52 words
A woven textile prosthetic implant comprising: an elongate tubular body formed of fabric having a fabric thickness no greater than about 0.16 mm, said tubular body having longitudinally spaced wave-like, generally uniform crimps along the length thereof, said crimps having a crimp frequency of no less than about 6 crimps per centimetre.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 20 words
A woven textile prosthetic implant according to claim 1, wherein the tubular body includes an x-ray detectable, radiopaque yarn therein.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 22 words
A woven textile prosthetic implant according to claim 2, wherein the radiopaque yarn extends longitudinally along the length of the tubular body.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 27 words
A woven textile prosthetic implant according to claim 1, 2 or 3 wherein the wave-like crimps having a peak-to-peak amplitude of no greater than about 0.5 mm.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 32 words
A woven textile prosthetic implant according to any preceding claim, wherein the body has a fabric thickness of about 0.12 mm and a maximum crimp frequency of about 42 crimps per cm.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 61 words
A woven textile graft comprising: an elongate tubular graft body having a wall thickness of no greater than about 0.16 mm and defining a pattern of wave-like crimps along the body, the number of crimps, C, per centimetre of body length being defined by the equation: C = [2 (t ÷ 10)]⁻¹; wherein t equals the body wall thickness in mm.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 23 words
A woven textile graft according to claim 6, wherein the wave-like crimps define a peak-to-peak amplitude of no greater than about 0.6 mm.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 18 words
A woven textile graft of claim 6 or 7, wherein the tubular body includes a radiopaque marker therein.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 18 words
A woven textile graft according to claim 8, wherein the marker extends the length of the tubular body.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 19 words
A woven textile graft according to any one of claim 6 to 9, wherein the tubular body is bifurcated.
