Claim 1
Independent Claim 94 words
A cellular mobile radio system arranged to operate in accordance with a packet reservation multiple access protocol, characterised in that at least some frames on a down-link (base station to mobile) include a slot, hereinafter called a fast paging slot (FP slot) reserved for information which indicates to a mobile the information slots in which to listen for the reception of information, and wherein at least some frames on an up-link (mobile to base station) are arranged to include an FP acknowledgement signal by means of which a mobile acknowledges receipt of FP information.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 94 words
A cellular mobile radio system arranged to operate in accordance with a packet reservation multiple access protocol, characterised in that at least some frames on a down-link (base station to mobile) include a slot, hereinafter called a fast paging slot (FP slot) reserved for information which indicates to a mobile the information slots in which to listen for the reception of information, and wherein at least some frames on an up-link (mobile to base station) are arranged to include an FP acknowledgement signal by means of which a mobile acknowledges receipt of FP information.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 49 words
A system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the FP slot includes data identifying the address of a mobile being paged, together with data identifying the slots in which information for that mobile will subsequently be transmitted consequent upon receipt by the base station of an FP acknowledgement signal.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 19 words
A system as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, wherein data and information are transmitted in separate slots.
Claim 5
Independent Claim 18 words
