Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim
18 words
A fuser member comprising a supporting substrate and a layer comprising integral interpenetrating networks of haloelastomer and silica.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
13 words
The fuser member of claim 1, wherein the interpenetrating networks are substantially uniform.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
15 words
The fuser member of claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the haloelastomer is a fluoroelastomer.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
21 words
The fuser member of claim 3, wherein the fluoroelastomer is selected from the group consisting of poly(vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoro-propylene) and poly(vinylidene fluoridehexafluoropropylene-tetrafluoroethylene).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
23 words
The fuser member of any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the layer is from about 10 to about 250 microns thick.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
68 words
A process for preparing a fuser member comprising: forming on a substrate a layer comprising integral interpenetrating networks of haloelastomer and silica, wherein the networks are formed by the steps comprising in any effective sequence dehydrohalogenating the haloelastomer with an amine coupler having one or more functional groups and coupling the amine coupler thereto, hydrolyzing a silane compound, and coupling the amine coupler to the hydrolyzed silane compound.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
46 words
The process of claim 6, wherein the amine coupler is a primary, secondary or tertiary aliphatic or aromatic amine where the aliphatic and aromatic groups have from 2 to 15 carbon atoms, or aliphatic or aromatic diamines or triamines having from 2 to 15 carbon atoms.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
38 words
The process of claim 6 or claim 7, wherein the silane compound is of the formula Si(A)₄, where A is a halogen; hydroxy; hydride; or OR, where R is an alkyl having from 1 to 24 carbon atoms.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
12 words
A composition comprising substantially uniform integral interpenetrating networks of haloelastomer and silica.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
40 words
The composition of claim 9, wherein the haloelastomer is present in an amount ranging from about 99 to about 25% by weight and the silica network is present in an amount ranging from about 1 to about 50% by weight.
