Abstract
Abstract A flooring material for use in the back of mini buses and vans, which is made up of a layer of elastomer, typically polyurethane (2), injection moulded onto a layer of plywood (4). The lower layer of plywood may be made of two adjacent pieces so that the whole floor material may be folded. The invention also includes a method of making this flooring material.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 15
Claim 1
Independent Claim
41 words
A composite flooring material comprising a layer (2) of a flexible elastomer on a substrate layer (4) of one or more rigid substrate members; characterised in that said flexible elastomer layer (2) is integrally moulded directly onto said substrate layer (4).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
28 words
A flooring material according to claim 1, wherein said substrate layer (4) comprises a plurality of substrate members positioned side by side beneath a common flexible elastomer layer.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
36 words
A flooring material according to claim 2 further comprising tape (20) positioned beneath the elastomer and bonded onto the said substrate members along the surfaces at least adjacent to the adjoining edges of said substrate members.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
26 words
A flooring material according to any one of claims 1 to 3 further comprising a lip seal integrally moulded around a substantial part of its perimeter.
Claim 5
Independent Claim
51 words
A method of making a composite flooring material comprising the step of providing a flexible elastomer material (2) on a first surface of one or more rigid substrate members (4); characterised in that said providing step comprises the step of injection moulding said elastomer material (2) directly onto said first surface.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
27 words
A method according to claim 5, further comprising the step of moulding support members (16) onto a second surface of said one or more substrate members (4).
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
42 words
A method according to claim 5 or 6, wherein said flooring material includes a plurality of substrate members (4), and further comprising the step of applying tape (20) to bridge adjoining edges of said substrate pieces, prior to said injection moulding step.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
31 words
A method according to claim 5, 6 or 7, further comprising the step of shaping said flooring material and cutting holes through it, preferably by the use of a waterjet cutter.
Claim 9
Independent Claim
30 words
A method according to any one of claims 5 to 8 further comprising the step of pre-bending said one or more substrate members prior to the step of injection moulding.
Claim 10
Independent Claim
32 words
A method according to any one of claims 5 to 9, further comprising the step of integrally moulding a lip seal around a substantial part of the perimeter of the flooring material.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
26 words
A flooring material or method according to any one of the preceding claims wherein said one or more substrate members (4) comprise waterproof and boilable plywood.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
27 words
A flooring material or method according to any one of the preceding claims wherein the depth of said elastomer is varied across its width and/or its length.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim
19 words
A flooring material or method according to any one of the preceding claims wherein said elastomer is a polyurethane.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim
26 words
A flooring material or method according to claim 13, wherein said elastomer is a filled polyurethane material, and preferably filled with calcium carbonate and/or barium sulphate.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim
27 words
A flooring material or method according to any one of the preceding claims wherein said elastomer is formed from mixing a polyol stream and/or an isocyanate stream.
