Abstract
Abstract Historical log data for a plurality of databases (419a, 419b) are classified for the individual databases. Alternatively, the historical log data associated with the database and user log data are classified. The classified log data are stored in a plurality of nonvolatile buffers (414a, 414b). When the nonvolatile buffers are full in storing, the contents of the nonvolatile buffers are temporarily written into historical log files (418a, 418b), following which the classified log data are stored in the nonvolatile buffers. <IMAGE>

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 16
Claim 1
Independent Claim
122 words
An apparatus for classifying and acquiring log data in a database system that updates the data through execution of a transaction and stores the updating history as the log data in a storage comprising: log data acquiring means for acquiring log data for each individual transactions; log data classifying means for classifying the log data acquired by said log data acquiring means according to a predetermined classification condition; a plurality of buffers for use in storing a plurality of historical log data classified by said log data classifying means with being associated with classifications; and historical log files provided within the storage for writing therein the historical log data stored in the buffers, said historical log files being associated with the classifications.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
14 words
An apparatus as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the storage is an external storage.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
38 words
An apparatus as claimed in Claim 2 further comprising log data writing means for writing the historical log data from said buffers into a historical log file on the external storage in asynchronism with execution of the transactions.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
32 words
An apparatus as claimed in Claim 3, wherein said log data writing means carries out writing of the log data from said buffers into the individual log files in a parallel manner.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
23 words
An apparatus as claimed in Claim 1 further comprising a nonvolatile memory, wherein said buffers are nonvolatile buffers provided on the nonvolatile memory.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
50 words
An apparatus as claimed in Claim 5 further comprising a plurality of volatile buffers, the volatile buffers being provided with being associated with the classifications, wherein the classified historical log data are temporarily stored in the volatile buffers, following which the historical log data are transferred to the nonvolatile buffer.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
74 words
An apparatus as claimed in Claim 1 further comprising: a transaction file for use in recording the audit trail of the transactions; transaction end managing means for managing a transaction end in said transaction file, said transaction end managing means recording the transaction end in said transaction file at the time when the historical log data is ensured in the historical log file on the storage in the case of end of the transaction.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
24 words
An apparatus as claimed in Claim 1 further comprising a plurality of databases, wherein said classifying means classifies the log data for each database.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
24 words
An apparatus as claimed in Claim 1, wherein said classifying means classifies the log data for every group of databases by a business unit.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
44 words
An apparatus as claimed in Claim 1, wherein said classifying means classifies updating log data for the database and user log data which contains other type of the data than the updating data to supply the classified data to a plurality of log files.
Claim 11
Independent Claim
95 words
A method for classifying and acquiring log data in a database system that updates the data through execution of a transaction and stores the updated history as the log data in a log file comprising the steps of: acquiring log data for each individual transactions; classifying the acquired log data according to a predetermined classification condition; storing the classified log data into one of a plurality of buffers with being associated with the classifications; and writing the log data stored in the buffer into a plurality of log files with being associated with the classifications.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
27 words
A method as claimed in Claim 11, wherein the classified historical log data are stored in one of a nonvolatile buffers with being associated with the classification.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim
49 words
A method as claimed in Claim 12, wherein information stored in the nonvolatile buffers is written into the log file if the nonvolatile buffers are full before the classified log data are stored in the nonvolatile buffers, following which the classified log files are stored in the nonvolatile buffers.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim
39 words
A method as claimed in Claim 12, wherein the classified log data are temporarily stored in a plurality of volatile buffers with being associated with the classification before the classified historical log data are written into the nonvolatile buffers.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim
18 words
A method as claimed in Claim 11, wherein the historical log data are classified for the individual databases.
Claim 16
Dependent Claim
28 words
A method as claimed in Claim 11, wherein user log data and updating log data for the database are classified and supplied to a plurality of log files.
