Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim 247 words
Method for the detection and correction of errors during the determination of the segment time which a shaft, in particular a crankshaft or a shaft connected thereto in an internal combustion engine, requires to rotate through a defined angular range, this shaft, or a sensor wheel connected thereto, having marks which are sensed by a matching sensor, characterized in that - the segment time (TG₀) of a reference segment of a reference cylinder is measured and stored, subsequently - the segment times (TG n ) of the crankshaft segments associated with the individual cylinders are successively measured and stored for all the cylinders (n), after this, - the segment time (TG₀') of the segment of the same reference cylinder is measured two crankshaft rotations later and is stored, and in that in each case a correction value (AZ n ) is then successively calculated for all the cylinders (n) of the internal combustion engine according to the equation AZ n = TG n -TG 0 TG 0 + n z*TG 0 * TG 0 -TG '0 where - z designates the number of cylinders, - subsequently the respective correction value (AZ n ) is subjected to averaging and - this averaged correction value (AZM n ) is stored, and - in that the segment times (TG n ) actually measured are corrected (TK n ) using these correction values (AZM n ) according to the equation TK n = TG n * (1 - AZM n )
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 230 words
Method for the detection and correction of errors during the determination of the segment time which a shaft, in particular a crankshaft or a shaft connected thereto in an internal combustion engine, requires in order to rotate through a defined angular range, this shaft, or a sensor wheel connected thereto, having marks which are sensed by a matching sensor, characterized in that - the segment time (TB₀) of a reference segment of a reference cylinder is measured and stored, subsequently - the segment times (TB₀) of all the segments of the crankshaft are successively measured and stored, after this - the segment time (TB₀') of the same segment is measured one crankshaft rotation later and stored, and in that then - a correction value (BZ n ) is successively calculated for all the segments (n) according to the equation BZ n = TB n -TB 0 TB 0 + n z/2*TB 0 * TB 0 -TB 0 ' , where - z designates the number of cylinders - subsequently the respective correction value (BZ n ) is subjected to averaging and - this averaged correction value (BZM n ) is stored, - and in that the segment times (TB n ) actually measured are corrected (TBK n ) using these correction values (BZM n ) according to the equation TBK n = TB n * (1 - BZM n )
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 27 words
Method according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the calculation of the correction values is carried out in the overrun fuel cut-off operating state.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 22 words
Method according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the correction values are calculated only within prescribable rotational speed limits.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 35 words
Method according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the correction values are calculated only if there are changes in the rotational speed of the internal combustion engine below a prescribable limit value.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 68 words
Method according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the averaging of the correction values takes place in the form of sliding averaging according to the equation: AZM n = AZM n-1 ∗ (1-MITKO) + AZ n ∗ MITKO and BZM n = BZM n-1 ∗ (1-MITKO) + BZ n ∗ MITKO, MITKO constituting a selectable averaging constant with a value range between zero and one.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 87 words
Method according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that when operation is first started the correction values (AZ n , BZ n ) are preset with initialization values, preferably with zero, and whenever operation is started again the correction values (AZ n , BZ n ) are set to the last values of the engine operation to be identified and stored, and the correction of the segment times does not take place until after a prescribable number (ZS) of steps for calculating the correction values.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 27 words
Method according to Claim 7, characterized in that the prescribable number (ZS) of steps for calculating the correction values is inversely proportional to the averaging constant MITKO.
