Device for controlling the output voltage of an engine-driven generator
Abstract
A device for regulating the output voltage of a generator driven by an internal combustion engine is described, in which, in addition to the generator and the voltage regulator regulating the excitation current of the generator, an additional control device (25) is provided which detects whether the engine is in the starting phase . If it is recognized that the engine is in the starting phase, the control device (25) lowers the excitation current so that a voltage arises at the generator terminal (D +) which does not allow a load current and at the same time ensures that the charge control display goes out. After the start-up phase, the control device (25) switches off and the excitation current (IE) regulated by the voltage regulator (11) is increased to the usual value which gives a generator output voltage which is so far above the vehicle electrical system voltage that the battery (20) is charged becomes.
