Abstract

Abstract A central monitoring system of a multiplex subscriber loop carrier comprises: a remote terminal (3) comprising a first subscriber line tester (33) for testing a first subscriber line connected to subscriber terminals so as to detect a fault on the first subscriber line, and outputting an alarm about the detected fault; and a central office terminal (4) connected with the remote terminal (3) via a carrier line (6) and connected with a local switch (1) via second subscriber lines (7); the central office terminal (4) comprises a dummy fault generating circuit (43) for representing the fault. Upon receiving the alarm via the carrier line the dummy fault generating circuit (43) is connected via a transfer switch to one of second subscriber lines that corresponds to the first subscriber line having the fault thereon. Then, a second subscriber line tester (12) in the local switch (1) for testing the second subscriber lines detects the dummy fault generating circuit as a message informing that the fault is on the first subscriber line which corresponds to the second subscriber line having the dummy fault generating circuit connected thereto.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 237 words
A central monitoring system of a multiplex subscriber loop carrier connecting a plurality of first subscriber lines respectively connected with subscriber terminals and a plurality of second subscriber lines connected to a local switch for switching the second subscriber lines, the multiplex subscriber loop carrier (SLC) comprising: a remote terminal (RT) for multiplexing/demultiplexing the first subscriber lines to/from a carrier line carrying a plurality of channels, said remote terminal comprising a first subscriber line tester (SLT1) for testing the first subscriber lines so as to detect a fault on the first subscriber line, said first subscriber line tester transmitting fault information about said fault; and a central office terminal (COT) for multiplexing/demultiplexing the second subscriber lines to/from said carrier line, said central office terminal comprising a dummy fault generating circuit for representing said fault, upon receiving fault information about said fault via said carrier line from said first subscriber line tester said dummy fault generating circuit being connected via a transfer switch to one of the second subscriber lines that corresponds to said first subscriber line having said fault thereon, wherein the local switch comprises a second subscriber line tester (SLT2) for testing said second subscriber lines, whereby said second subscriber line tester detects said dummy fault generating circuit as a message informing that said fault is on said first subscriber line which corresponds to said second subscriber line having said dummy fault generating circuit connected thereto.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 67 words
A central monitoring system of a multiplex subscriber loop carrier as recited in claim 1, wherein said dummy fault generating circuit comprises plural kinds of circuit configurations, each of said circuit configuration corresponds to type of said fault, depending on said fault information one of said circuit configuration is selectively connected to said second subscriber line which corresponds to said first subscriber line having said fault thereon.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 71 words
A central monitoring system of a multiplex subscriber loop carrier as recited in claim 1, where in at least one of said remote terminal and said central office terminal further comprises a voice transponder for receiving said fault information and transmitting a voice signal informing of said fault in response to a request call from said local switch to said second subscriber line which corresponds to said faulty first subscriber line.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 64 words
A central monitoring system of a multiplex subscriber loop carrier as recited in claim 1, where in said central office terminal inhibits said dummy fault generating circuit from being connected to said second subscriber line that corresponds to said faulty first subscriber line, upon receiving a control signal transmitted from said second subscriber line tester having detected said dummy fault generating circuit connected thereto.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 31 words
A central monitoring system of a multiplex subscriber loop carrier as recited in claim 2, wherein one of said circuit configurations represents a fault generated in the multiplex subscriber loop carrier.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 49 words
A central monitoring system of a multiplex subscriber loop carrier as recited in claim 5, wherein said circuit configurations representing said fault generated in the multiplex subscriber loop carrier is connected to all of said second subscriber lines when said fault on the multiplex subscriber loop carrier is detected.
