Abstract
Abstract A procedure for reducing the number of bits of a binary word (AI) constituting a string of addresses called initial addresses, for reading/writing a translation memory. The procedure does not limit a priori the freedom of choice of the values of fields used in the binary word and implementation thereof is possible, by means of conventional electronic components, at a high speed corresponding to the binary transmission rate in a telecommunication network with asynchronous multiplexing. <IMAGE>
