Digital radio transmission method with channel impulse response estimation
Abstract
Abstract In mobile radio, the channel impulse response is time-variable due to the Doppler effect. The problem is to estimate these changes in a receiver and to take account of them. A novel method for estimating the time variation of the channel impulse response is represented here. The novel method is suitable, for example, for TDMA systems such as the GSM system. With a continuous transmission (FDMA), the method can also be used if bit sequences known to the receiver (training sequence) are occasionally transmitted. The method operates independently of the correlation characteristics of the symbol sequences transmitted.
