Abstract
Abstract An intake system for internal combustion engines incorporating a filter housing (10) with an air intake opening (11), a filter element (12) and at least one air outlet tube (13), which communicates with the engine inlet manifolds (16), which form an integral unit with the bottom part of the filter housing (10). The top part (19) of the inlet manifolds (16) are designed to form the lowermost border of the filter housing (10), and to provide a support for the filter element (12). Hereby is obtained a compact and space-saving construction.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 3
Claim 1
Independent Claim
101 words
Intake system for internal combustion engines and comprising a filter housing (10) with an air intake opening (11), a filter element (12) and at least one air outlet tube (13) as seen in the flow direction of the air, said air outlet tube being arranged to communicate with the engine inlet manifolds (16), which form an integral unit with the bottom part of the filter housing (10), characterized therein, that the top part (19) of the inlet manifolds (16) are designed to form the lowermost border of the filter housing (10), and to provide a support for the filter element (12).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
31 words
Intake system as claimed in claim 1, characterized therein , that the filter element (12) is positioned inside a seal (22) provided on the top part of the inlet manifolds (16).
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
46 words
Intake system as claimed in claim 1, characterized therein , that the inlet part (17) of the inlet manifold (16) is horn-shaped, forming an air space inside the horn, which space communicates partly with the outlet tube (13) as well as with the inlet manifolds (16).
