Abstract

Abstract A method and apparatus are described for filling a syringe with a medical solution in a closed system via sterile docking. A syringe is in communication with a closed sealable tube. A medical solution in a container is in communication with a closed sealable tube. Both tubes are brought in open fluid communication via sterile docking and the syringe is filled with the medical solution. The tube connecting the container and the syringe is sealed and the seal is cut. Use of this method and apparatus allows for the filling of a syringe without contamination of the solution in the syringe nor of the solution in the container. Also, contamination of the environment with the solution that is being sampled in the syringe is prevented.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim 49 words
An apparatus for medical use consisting of a syringe that is fitted with a sealable tube, said sealable tube being closed on one end and said sealable tube being in communication with said syringe on the other end via a direct coupling of the syringe to the sealable tube
Claim 2
Independent Claim 60 words
An apparatus for medical use consisting of a syringe that is fitted with a sealable tube, said sealable tube being closed on one end and said sealable tube being in communication with said syringe on the other end via a female liner or luer lock connector that is fitted on the male liner or luer lock connector of the syringe
Claim 3
Independent Claim 55 words
An apparatus for medical use consisting of a syringe that is fitted with a sealable tube, said sealable tube being closed on one end and said sealable tube being in open communication with said syringe via an integrated construction in which the barrel of the syringe and the sealable tube are manufactured in one piece.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 26 words
The apparatus defined in claim 1, 2, or 3, further comprising a filter in said tube for the removal of particles and/or micro-organisms from the solution
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 21 words
The apparatus defined in claim 1, 2, or 3, further comprising a clamp on said tube to shut off flow therethrough
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 24 words
The apparatus defined in claim 1, 2, or 3, further comprising a one-way check-back valve in said tube permitting only flow toward said syringe
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 38 words
The apparatus defined in claim 1, 2, or 3, further comprising a three-way valve in said tube, the third leg of said valve being connected to a second closed sealable tube that can be used for sterile docking
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 22 words
The apparatus defined in claim 7, further comprising a flexible container in open communication with said third leg of said three-way valve.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 31 words
The apparatus defined in claim 1, 2, or 3, further comprising a Y-piece in said tube, the third leg of said Y-piece being in communication with a second closed sealable tube.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 20 words
The apparatus defined in claim 9 further comprising a flexible container in communication with said third leg of said Y-piece
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 37 words
A multitude of apparatus's as defined in claim 1, 2, or 3, connected to one piece of closed sealable tubing via a more-way connector between the tubes connected to the syringes and said tube, creating a manyfold
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 20 words
The apparatus defined in claim 1, 2, or 3, wherein said tube is provided with at least two identifying codes.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 22 words
The apparatus defined in claim 2 further comprising a tamper evidence between said male and said female luer or luer lock connector.
Claim 14
Independent Claim 94 words
A method for filling a syringe with a medical fluid comprising: bringing into fluid communication via sterile docking: a syringe with a sealable tube, said tube being closed on one end and being in communication with the syringe on the other end and a container with a medical fluid, said container being fitted with a sealable tube that is closed on one end and that is in communication with the fluid on the other end introducing said medical fluid in said syringe sealing the tube between said syringe and said container cutting said seal
