A bleach or bleaching detergent composition comprising: (a) hydrogen peroxide or a peroxide which generates hydrogen peroxide in an aqueous solution thereof, (b) a quaternary ammonium compound having the general formula (I); in which R¹ is, either a straight- or branched-chain, substituted or unsubstituted, alkyl having 1 to 20 carbon atoms or alkenyl having 2 to 20 carbon atoms, R² and R³ are, each independently an alkyl having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, and A and B are, each independently, either a straight- or branched-chain, substituted or unsubstituted, an alkylene having 2 to 20 carbon atoms, and (c) an amide derivative having the general formula (II); in which R¹, R², R³ and A are defined above; and wherein the weight ratio of (b)/(c) is in the range of from 100/0.01 to 100/5.
