Abstract
Abstract Inks for ink-jet printing have improved water resistance and smear resistance when they contain from about 2.5 to 25%, preferably from about 7.5% to about 12.5%, by weight, 2-pyrrolidone, N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-pyrrolidone, or mixtures thereof.

An ink-jet ink suitable for ink-jet printing, comprising, by weight: (a) from about 2.5% to about 25% of a pyrrolidone selected from the group consisting of 2-pyrrolidone, N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-pyrrolidone, and mixtures thereof; (b) from about 1% to about 10% dye; and (c) the balance water, said ink having a pH ranging from about 4 to about 12.
