Abstract
Abstract In a system having a memory unit using a memory for a block transfer function, access requested from a processor is executed by using the block transfer function even if the requested access is not block access to be conducted with respect to a block, provided that block transfer is possible.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim
58 words
A memory access control method comprising the steps of: receiving address data of an access request; determining whether block access conducted as access to a data block is possible based on the received address data; and starting block access even if the requested access is not block access, provided that it is determined that block access is possible.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
30 words
A method according to claim 1, wherein the block access is performed as sequential access to an address updated by successively incrementing a subordinate address while fixing a significant address.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
24 words
A method according to claim 1, wherein said determination step includes comparing the received address data with the address data for the preceding access.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
61 words
A method according to claim 3, wherein it is determined in said determination step that the block access is possible if as the result of said comparison the received address data coincides with the address data for the preceding access in terms of significant address and is greater than the address data for the preceding access in terms of subordinate access.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
96 words
An information processing system comprising: memory means for storing information; reception means for receiving address data on requested access to said memory means; address memory means for storing the received address data received by said reception means; determination means for determining, based on the address data, whether block access to said memory means conducted as access to a data block is possible; and access control means for controlling the system so as to start block access even if the requested access is not block access, provided that said determination means determines that block access is possible.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
37 words
A system according to claim 5, wherein said access control means controls the system to effect the block access as sequential access to an address updated by successively incrementing a subordinate address while fixing a significant address.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
27 words
A system according to claim 5, wherein said determination means includes comparison means for comparing the received address data with the address data for the preceding access.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
62 words
A system according to claim 7, wherein said determination means determines that the block access is possible if the comparison result obtained by said comparison means indicates that the received address data coincides with the address data for the preceding access in terms of significant address and is greater than the address data for the preceding access in terms of subordinate access.
