Abstract The invention relates to a video recorder with a memory to store the table of contents of a plurality of magnetic-tape cassettes. According to the invention, in this memory there is stored for each program contribution an item of blocking code information which provides information on whether the associated program contribution is or is not to be freely accessible for playing back. <IMAGE>
