Abstract
Abstract A data recording disc 1 contains a CD area in which a signal such as an audio signal is recorded in digital form and a video area in which a FM-modulated video signal is recorded with a digital audio signal superimposed thereon. The position of a data detection point of a pick-up is monitored 3, and the equalisation and amplifier gain of components 28b,28c,28e,28f of a digital demodulation system are automatically changed according to whether playback of the CD area or the video area is being executed so that a single demodulation system is used for both the digital signals from the CD area and the digital signals from the video area.

A data recording disc playback apparatus capable of playback of a data recording disc (1) with predetermined data which has been subjected to digital modulation processing recorded in a first area of said disc and a video signal which has been subjected to frequency modulation processing recorded with a predetermined digital signal superimposed thereon in a second area of said disc disposed peripherally outward from said first area (fig. 8), the apparatus comprising: an equaliser circuit (28b,28e) for performing compensation of a frequency characteristic of a playback digital signal, and; means (47,28a) for detecting when a data detection point of a pickup of said apparatus reaches positions adjacent to respective boundaries of said first and second areas, and for producing a corresponding detection signal; wherein the improvement comprises: means (28a) for executing changeover of an equaliser characteristic of said equaliser circuit in accordance with indication of said first and second areas respectively by said detection signal.

A data recording disc playback apparatus capable of playback of a data recording disc (1) with predetermined data which has been subjected to digital modulation processing recorded in a first area of said disc and a video signal which has been subjected to frequency modulation processing recorded with a predetermined digital signal superimposed thereon in a second area of said disc disposed peripherally outward from said first area (fig. 8), the apparatus comprising: an equaliser circuit (28b,28e) for performing compensation of a frequency characteristic of a playback digital signal; an amplitude control circuit (28c,28f) for controlling an amplitude of said playback digital signal; means (15) for detecting when said data detection point has reached positions adjacent to respective boundaries of said first and second areas, and for producing a corresponding detection signal; wherein the improvement comprises: means (47,28a) for executing changeover of an equaliser characteristic of said equaliser circuit (28b,28e) and of a degree of control applied by said amplitude control circuit, respectively, in accordance with indication of said first and second areas respectively by said detection signal.
