Pacemaker lead with helix
Abstract
<IMAGE> A pacemaker lead (1) has an insulating tube 8 covering its lead (9) and a screw helix (5) serving to fix it inside the heart (3) and screw it into its tissue, the extreme and front end of which is pointed and sharp and which has a fixed overhang relative to the end of the hose (8), that is to say no axial movement relative to the feed line (9) is possible. In order to shield this screw helix (6) and its tip (7) during transvenous implantation from the inner wall of the vessel and also from the heart valves, a cover (12) covering the screw helix (5) in the area of its tip (7) is provided, the inner and the outer contour corresponds to the outer contour of the covered area which corresponds to the turn (6) forming the helix (5). A pulling element (14) leading to the proximal end (13) of the feed line (9) is preferably fixed in one piece to the cover (12), so that the cover (12) by means of this pulling element (14) from the tip (7) of the screw spiral ( 5) can be removed if it is pushed into the heart (3) and just before it is then anchored in the heart tissue. <IMAGE>
