Abstract

A very effective catalyst system for olefin polymerization consists of an aluminoxane and a metallocene of the formula wherein preferably M 1 Zr or Hf, R 1 and R 2 alkyl or halogen, R 3 and R 4 hydrogen, R 5 and R 6 alkyl or haloalkyl, - (CR 8 R 9 ) m -R 7 - (CR 8 R 9 ) n - a one- or multi-membered chain, in which R 7 can also be a (subst.) heteroatom, and m + n represent zero or 1. The catalyst system delivers polymers with high molecular weight and high stereospecificity.
