Abstract
Abstract A supervision control system (23) for an ATM cell switching system counts (21) the number of cells transmitted from a subscriber in a predetermined duration unit, attaches a sign to the cells when the counted value exceeds a predetermined value, and discards the cells to which the sign is attached when a buffer does not have enough capacity during a cell multiplexation.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
76 words
A supervision control method for an ATM (Asynchronous Transmission Mode) cell switching system comprising: a first step of counting cells transmitted from a subscriber in a predetermined duration unit; a second step of attaching a sign to said cells when the value counted in said first step exceeds a predetermined value; and a third step of discarding said cells to which said sign is attached when a buffer does not have enough capacity in multiplexing cells.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
34 words
The supervision control method for an ATM (Asynchronous Transmission Mode) cell switching system according to claim 1, wherein: said sign is set in either a CLP bit or a RES bit of a cell.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
116 words
A supervision control method for an ATM (Asynchronous Transmission Mode) cell switching system comprising: a fourth step of counting cells transmitted from a subscriber in a predetermined duration unit; a fifth step of attaching a sign to said cells when the value counted in said fourth step exceeds a first predetermined value; a sixth step of discarding the excess cells over a second predetermined value when the number of said cells counted in said fourth step exceeds said second predetermined value; and a seventh step of discarding the excess cells over said first predetermined value, to which said sign is attached in said fifth step when a buffer does not have enough capacity in multiplexing cells.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
58 words
The supervision control method for an ATM (Asynchronous Transmission Mode) cell switching system according to claim 3, wherein; said first predetermined value is a number of average cells in said predetermined duration unit; said second predetermined value is a number of peak cells in said predetermined duration unit; and said subscriber designates said first and second predetermined values.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
74 words
A supervision control apparatus for an ATM (Asynchronous Transmission Mode) cell switching system comprising: a cell counter for counting cells transmitted from a subscriber in a predetermined duration unit; a judge for attaching a sign to said cells when the value counted by said cell counter exceeds a predetermined value; and a multiplexer for discarding said cells to which said sign is attached when a buffer does not have enough capacity in multiplexing cells.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
35 words
The supervision control apparatus for an ATM (Asynchronous Transmission Mode) cell switching system according to claim 5, wherein: said judge has a selector, and switches said selector when said sign is attached to a cell.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
34 words
The supervision control apparatus for an ATM (Asynchronous Transmission Mode) cell switching system according to claim 5, wherein: said sign is set in either a CLP bit or a RES bit of a cell.
