Abstract Translated from German Eine Zusammensetzung, die für das Formen biologisch abbaubarer Gebrauchsgegenstände geeignet ist, enthält wenigstens eine natürliche Stärke und maximal 40 Gewichtsprozent Wasser. Dabei liegt die Stärke wenigstens teilweise als Bestandteil zerkleinerter Naturprodukte, und zwar in Kombination mit anderen Bestandteilen ebendieser Naturprodukte, vor. Bei einem Verfahren zur Herstellung eines biologisch abbaubaren Gebrauchsgegenstandes wird eine solche Zusammensetzung einer Wärmebehandlung zur Plastifizierung, Gelatinierung, bzw. Verpressung, gegebenenfalls einer Entgasung, und daraufhin wenigstens einem Verformungsvorgang unterworfen. Diese Wärmebehandlung findet, je nach Wassergehalt der Zusammensetzung, entweder bei einer Temperatur unterhalb der Glastemperatur oder oberhalb der Glastemperatur statt.
