Abstract

Abstract A polymerization catalyst for olefins including styrenic compounds, containing as one component a transition metal compound having two ligands such as a β-diketone, which comprises: (a) a transition metal compound of general formula (I), wherein M represents titanium, zirconium, hafnium or vanadium; Y¹ and Y² represent the same or different halogen atoms or C₁ to C₁₀ alkyl groups; and R¹, R² and R³ represent each hydrogen or a C₁ to C₁₀ hydrocarbon group, provided that at least one of them is hydrogen but not all of them are hydrogen at the same time, and (b) an organoaluminum compound, particularly aluminoxane.
