Abstract

Abstract The invention relates to a computer network permitting data exchanges at very high throughput, with very short times of routing of messages between a transmitting station and a receiving station. According to the invention, this network comprises two parallel and separate transmission media (21, 22) each looped back into a ring, and onto each of which is inserted in break mode each of the computer stations (23A to 23F), a first of the said transmission media (21) forming a write ring, on which the said stations (23A to 23F) transmit their messages, and a second of the said media (22) forming a read ring, on which said stations (23A to 23F) read off the messages addressed to them. In the event of a break in one of the said media and/or a malfunction of a station, the network is reconfigured as a ring folded over itself. Advantageously, a loop-back station (23A) performs the complete retransmission (27) of the said messages from the said write ring (21) onto the said read ring (22). The invention also relates to stations (23A to 23F) which can be inserted onto such a network, access protocols, a method of connecting to this network and a method of reconfiguring in the event of a breakdown. <IMAGE>
