Method for varying the droplet size in ink jet printers
Abstract
Abstract In order to increase the thermo/fluid mechanical efficiency and to generate ink droplets of differing masses in an ink printer operating according to the thermal transducer principle, the heating power of the individual heating elements (RH) is reduced inversely proportionally to the surface temperature of the heating dot (RH), in a heating phase (VJ) serving to preheat the ink fluid, in such a way that the greatest possible flow of heat flows into the ink fluid without causing vaporisation and subsequently the vaporisation is initiated directly after the preheating phase (VJ) by briefly increasing the heating power. By means of such a method, droplets of different sizes can be generated with a high efficiency and a short heating pulse. <IMAGE>
