Abstract Translated from French Procédé de teinture des fibres kératiniques, en particulier des fibres kératiniques humaines, telles que les cheveux, caractérisé par le fait qu'on applique sur ces fibres une composition contenant dans un milieu approprié pour la teinture, au moins un dérivé de 4-hydroxyindole de formule : <IMAGE> dans laquelle R1 désigne hydrogène, alkyle en C1-C4; R2 et R3, identiques ou différents, désignent hydrogène, alkyle en C1-C4, carboxyle ou alcoxycarbonyle; X désigne hydrogène, alkyle en C1-C4, alcoxy en C1-C18, halogène, acétylamino; au moins l'un des groupements X, R1, R2, R3 étant différent d'hydrogène; ainsi que les sels de ces composés; au moins un précurseur de colorant d'oxydation; au moins un agent oxydant; le pH de la composition appliquée sur les fibres étant inférieur à 7.
