Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim
126 words
A portable computer powered by batteries, comprising: a first rechargeable battery (31L); a second rechargeable battery (31R); operating power generating means (315) for generating operating power from the output power from said first or second battery; data processing means (11, 13) for performing data processing by using the operating power from said operating power generating means; checking means (306, 318) for checking discharge state of said first and second batteries; charging means (311) for charging the battery when said checking means judges that said first or second battery is in the discharged state that needs charging; and informing means (50) for informing the operator of three states of said first and second batteries, the three states indicating need of charging, during charging, and completion of charging.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
29 words
A portable computer according to claim 1, characterized in that said informing means is composed of light emitting elements (L2, L3) corresponding to said first and second batteries, respectively.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
45 words
A portable computer according to claim 1, characterized by further comprising: means (29) for receiving power from outside the computer and then supplying the power to said charging means; and informing means (L4) for informing the operator of the supplying state of the external power.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
53 words
A portable computer according to claim 1, characterized by further comprising means (306, S41) for, with the computer powered by said first or second battery and in operation, turning the computer power off with a specified delay when both of said first and second batteries are in a specified state that needs charging.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
71 words
A portable computer according to claim 1, characterized in that said portable computer informs the operator which batteries are in operation and whether the individual batteries are in need of charging or in a fully charged state when the computer is operating from said first or second battery; and indicates whether said individual batteries are being charged or have finished being charged when power is supplied from said power supplying means.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
105 words
A portable computer according to claim 1, characterized in that said portable computer consists of a lap-top computer comprising a main body (1) with a keyboard and a display section (37) pivotally mounted to said main body to allow opening and closing, wherein: said main body (1) has a protrusion whose front wall, when said display section (37) is closed, faces the bottom of said display section and whose top wall is substantially flush with the back of said closed display section; and said informing means (L1 through L9) is provided in a portion formed by said front wall and top wall of said protrusion.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
75 words
A portable computer according to claim 1, characterized in that said portable computer consists of a lap-top personal computer comprising a main body (1) with a keyboard and a display section (37) pivotally mounted to said main body to allow opening and closing, wherein: said informing means (50) is composed of light-emitting elements (L2, L3), which are positioned so as to be externally visible irrespective of the opening and closing of said display section (37).
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
111 words
A portable computer powered by batteries, comprising: a computer device main body; a first battery (31L) installed in said computer device main body in a detachable manner; a second battery (31R) installed in said computer device main body in a detachable manner; operating power generating means (315) for generating operating power from the output power from said first or second battery; checking means (306, 318) for checking to see if said first and second batteries are installed properly in said computer device main body; and informing means (50) for, in response to the results at said checking means, informing the operator of the installation state of said first or second battery.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
56 words
A portable computer powered by batteries according to claim 8, characterized by further comprising means (31L) for charging said first and second batteries, wherein: said first battery (31L) and second battery (31R) essentially consist of rechargeable batteries; and said informing means also contains means for informing the operator of the charged state of the installed batteries.
