Abstract

Abstract Recording and reproducing methods of compressed data obtained by compressing continuous data in time base which are suitable for application to data-recording and reproducing for disc-like recording media especially. Data recording is performed as follows. A predetermined amount of compressed data stored in a memory means are read out continuously to record them in a recording medium. After that, until a predetermined amount of new compressed data are recorded in the memory means and read out, data recording is stopped. Data reproducing is performed as follows. Until a predetermined amount of data compressed in time base are read out from a recording medium in which compressed data are recorded and the outputting of the data expanded in time base is completed, data reproducing is stopped.
