Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 15
Claim 1
Independent Claim 100 words
An identification system, comprising: storage means for storing patient and healthcare provider identification information; scanning means for scanning indicia uniquely representative of patients or healthcare providers, and converting same to electronic form; means for comparing said electronic form of the scanned indicia with said identification information stored in said storage means to determine the identity of the patient or provider whose indicia was scanned; and print generating means responsive to said comparing means for printing visually perceptible identification information associated with said patient and provider on a record medium upon positive patient and provider identification detection by said comparing means.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 16 words
An identification system as recited in claim 1, wherein said indicia comprises one or more fingerprints.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 23 words
An identification system as recited in claim 1, wherein said visually perceptible identification information associated with said patient is a machine-readable bar code.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 132 words
An identification system, comprising: an optical scanner for scanning prints from first and second related or associated individuals and electronically encoding same; a database containing identification information and electronically encoded print data for said first and second related or associated individuals; computer/interface means linked to said optical scanner for comparing said electronically encoded print from said first and second related or associated individuals with said electronically encoded print data stored in said database to determine the identity of said first and second related or associated individuals whose prints were scanned; and print generating means linked to said computer/interface means for printing said identification information on a record medium, said computer/interface means signaling said print generating means to print said identification information only when a positive identification is detected by said computer/interface means.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 23 words
An identification system as recited in claim 4, wherein said printing means provides said identification information in print including a machine-readable bar code.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 119 words
An identification system, comprising: a machine-readable print scanner for scanning machine-readable bar codes representative of first and second related or associated individuals and electronically encoding same; a database containing identification information and electronically encoded bar code data for said first and second related or associated individuals; computer/interface means linked to said machine-readable print scanner for comparing said electronically encoded bar code representative of said first and second related or associated individuals with said electronically encoded bar code data stored in said database to determine the identity of said first and second related or associated individuals represented by said machine-readable bar code; and print generating means linked to said computer/interface means for printing said identification information on a record medium.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 23 words
An identification system as recited in claim 1, wherein said record medium comprises a label having a printable side and an adhesive side.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 23 words
An identification system as recited in claim 4, wherein said record medium comprises a label having a printable side and an adhesive side.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 23 words
An identification system as recited in claim 6, wherein said record medium comprises a label having a printable side and an adhesive side.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 25 words
An identification system as recited in claim 1, wherein said print generating means includes means for printing identification information directly onto a form inserted therein.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 25 words
An identification system as recited in claim 4, wherein said print generating means includes means for printing identification information directly onto a form inserted therein.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 25 words
An identification system as recited in claim 6, wherein said print generating means includes means for printing identification information directly onto a form inserted therein.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 60 words
An identification system as recited in claim 1, wherein said storage means includes stored healthcare provider authorization information associated with said healthcare provider identification information, said comparing means further comparing said authorization information with said identification information and signaling said print generating means to print said identification information only upon positive comparison of said provider identification and said authorization information.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 20 words
An identification system as recited in claim 1, wherein said storage means includes stored treatment information associated with a patient.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 26 words
An identification system as recited in claim 1, wherein said storage means stores healthcare provider identification information for all healthcare providers associated with a single patient.
