Abstract A process for purifying polyalkyleneether glycols by neutralising the alkaline catalysts using ortho-phosphoric acid in an equivalence ratio of from 1.5 to 2.5:3, and subsequently separating off the inorganic salts formed with the aid of a filter mat, where, if the filtration performance drops, the filter mat is treated with water and subsequently dried and reused for separating off the inorganic salts formed. <IMAGE>
