Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 4
Claim 1
Independent Claim
64 words
A method for operating a water-injection diesel engine by means of a fuel/water injection device comprising a fuel injection valve (40) for simultaneously injecting fuel and water, characterized by the steps: during one injection firstly injecting fuel of 5% or more and 75% or less of a total fuel injection amount, subsequently injecting a predetermined amount of water, and finally injecting the remaining fuel.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
37 words
A method for operating a water-injection diesel engine as claimed in claim 1, wherein said predetermined amount of water is at a volume ratio of 10 - 80 % with respect to the total fuel injection amount.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
214 words
A water-injection diesel engine comprising a fuel/water injection device including a fuel injection valve (40) for simultaneously injecting fuel and water, wherein said fuel injection valve (40) includes a water path (21) in which a check valve (13) is provided for admitting only a flow of water to flow towards a joining section (31) where a fuel path (22) and said water path (21) join together, and said water path (21) further is connected to a control valve (16) which is controlled by a control device (20) to limit an amount of water supplied to said joining section (31) to a predetermined amount, characterized by a fuel reservoir section (12)located on a downstream side of said joining section (31) and connected to said joining section (31) by a portion of said fuel path (22), said fuel reservoir section (12) and said portion of said fuel path (22) between said fuel reservoir section (12) and said joining section (31) being designed to have a total volume to accomodate fuel between 5% and 75% of a total fuel injection amount, and said joining section (31) designed so as to substantially not allow mixing of the supplied water with the fuel so that a total amount of water is injected being sandwiched between fuel injection amount portions.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
41 words
A water-injection diesel engine as claimed in claim 3, characterized in that the predetermined amount of water supplied to said joining section (31) is at a volume ratio of 10 - 80 % with respect to the total fuel injection amount.
