Abstract

Abstract A lens barrel for a camera wherein an outer profile thereof has a reduced dimension in a radial direction of a movable lens (11) and with a lens holding member (12) that can be moved smoothly in a direction of an optical axis of the movable lens (11) held on the barrel. The lens barrel (3) comprises an outer shell (4) having a pair of guide portions (23) provided therein and a lens holding member (12) holding a movable lens (11) thereon. The lens holding member (12) has a pair of guide portions (34) provided at the opposite locations thereof with respect to the optical axis and is supported at the guide portions (34) thereof for sliding movement on the guide portions (23) of the outer shell (4). The lens barrel (3) further comprises an actuator (15) including a coil (13) securely mounted on the lens holding member (12) and a magnet (14) securely mounted on the outer shell (4). The coil (13) and magnet (14) are disposed coaxially to each other around the optical axis. Position detecting means (36) is disposed in a spaced relationship by substantially equal distances from the guide portions (34) of the lens holding member (12) and detects a position of the lens holding member (12) with respect to the outer shell (4).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 180 words
A lens barrel for a camera, characterized in that it comprises : an outer shell (4) having a pair of guide portions (23) provided at an inside thereof; a lens holding member (12) holding a movable lens (11) thereon, said lens holding member (12) having a pair of guide portions (34) substantially at opposite locations thereof with respect to an optical axis of said movable lens (11), said lens holding member (12) being supported at said guide portions (34) thereof for sliding movement on said guide portions (23) of said outer shell (4); an actuator (15) including a coil (13) securely mounted on said lens holding member (12) and a magnet (14) securely mounted on said outer shell (4), said coil (13) and magnet (14) being disposed coaxially with each other about the optical axis of said movable lens (11); and a position detecting means (36) spaced by substantially equal distances from said two guide portions (34) of said lens holding member (12) for detecting a position of said lens holding member (12) with respect to said outer shell (4).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 22 words
A lens barrel for a camera according to claim 1, wherein said outer shell (4) has a substantially square prism-like outer profile.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 59 words
A lens barrel for a camera according to claim 1, further comprising a moving speed detecting means (39) for detecting a speed of movement of said lens holding member (12), said moving speed detecting means (39) being provided at a location spaced at substantially equal distances from said guide portions (23, 34) remote from said position detecting means (36).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 27 words
A lens barrel for a camera according to claim 1, wherein said position detecting means (36) includes an inclined magnet (37) and a Hall effect element (38).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 32 words
A lens barrel for a camera according to claim 1, wherein said position detecting means (36A) includes a moving magnet (42) of the alternately magnetized type and a magneto-resistance effect element (43).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 27 words
A lens barrel for a camera according to claim 3, wherein said moving speed detecting means (39) includes a moving magnet (40) and a detecting coil (41).
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 34 words
A lens barrel for a camera according to claim 1, further comprising a guide shaft (34) provided integrally with said lens holding member (12) for guiding said lens holding member (12) for sliding movement.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 32 words
A lens barrel for a camera according to claim 1, further comprising a guide shaft (25) secured to said outer shell (4) for guiding said lens holding member (12) for sliding movement.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 22 words
A lens barrel for a camera according to claim 1, wherein focusing operation is performed by movement of said movable lens (11).
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 32 words
A lens barrel for a camera according to claim 1, further comprising a yoke (35) which surrounds said magnet (14) to prevent leakage of magnetic fluxes to said position detecting means (36).
