Abstract

Abstract According to this invention, a piezo-electric element (3,4) as an electro-mechanical energy conversion element is urged against a vibration member (1,2), and a vibration is excited in the vibration member by a vibration produced in the piezo-electric element. Thus, a contact member, e.g., a rotor which contacts the vibration member, and the vibration member are moved relative to each other. The rigidity of the outer side of the vibration member is larger than that of its inner side.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim 116 words
A vibrating device comprising: (a) a first vibrating member having a hollow portion; (b) a second vibrating member having a hollow portion; (c) an electro-mechanical energy conversion member having a hollow portion, and clamped between said first and second vibrating members, said conversion member generating a vibration wave in said first and second vibrating members in response to an applied electrical signal; (d) a fastening member fitted into the hollow portions of said first and second vibrating members, and said conversion member, for fastening said conversion member between said first and second vibrating members; and (e) a uniforming member for substantially uniforming a compression stress acting on said conversion member when said fastening member executes fastening.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 18 words
A vibrating device according to claim 1, wherein said first vibrating member is formed of an elastic member.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 18 words
A vibrating device according to claim 1, wherein said second vibrating member is formed of an elastic member.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 34 words
A vibrating device according to claim 1, wherein said fastening member comprises a bolt, and the hollow portion of said first vibrating member has a threaded portion which is threadably engaged with said bolt.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 45 words
A vibrating device according to claim 1, wherein said first vibrating member has a contact surface contacting said conversion member, and said contact surface has a recess formed in an inner peripheral portion of said first vibrating member so as to form said uniforming member.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 14 words
A vibrating device according to claim 5, wherein said recess has a spherical shape.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 14 words
A vibrating device according to claim 5, wherein said recess has a curved-surface shape.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 44 words
A vibrating device according to claim 1, wherein said uniforming member is provided between one of said first and second vibrating members and said conversion member, and comprises as spacer whose thickness of an inner side is thinner than that of an outer side.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 47 words
A vibrating device according to claim 1, wherein said uniforming member comprises a member, provided on one of said first or second vibrating member, for forming a gap between an outer circumferential surface of said fastening member, and an inner circumferential surface of said one vibrating member.
