Abstract
Abstract When in the coded motion picture data recording method, coded motion picture data (VDREC), recorded on a recording medium (CD-MO), are edited for each group of frames (GOF), the edited groups of frames (GOF) are made discriminable, and edit operations are carried out. A predetermined number of intraframe coded or interframe coded frames are made self-sufficient within one group of frames (GOF). <IMAGE>

A method of recording coded motion picture data, in which: video signals (VDIN) are alternatively intraframe coded or interframe coded and are then quantized to provide coded motion picture data (VDREC); and said coded motion picture data (VDREC) are recorded on a predetermined recording medium (CD-MO) for each group of frames (GOF) which includes a predetermined number of said intraframe coded or interframe coded frames; characterized in that: in editing said coded motion picture data (VDREC), recorded on said recording medium (CD-MO), for each group of frames (GOF), edit flags (LPG) are set in the groups of edited frames and/or the frames following immediately after the edit operations.

A method of recording coded motion picture data, in which: video signals (VDIN) are alternatively intraframe coded or interframe coded and are then quantized to provide coded motion picture data (VDREC); and said coded motion picture data (VDREC) are recorded on a predetermined recording medium (CD-MO) for each group of frames (GOF) which includes a predetermined number of said intraframe coded or interframe coded frames; characterized in that: said coded motion picture data (VDREC) have frame numbers (TR) added, and are then recorded on said recording medium (CD-MO); and in editing said coded motion picture data (VDREC), recorded on said recording medium (CD-MO), for each group of frames (GOF), new coded motion picture data (VDREC) of the group of frames (GOF) has new frame numbers added which are different from the frame numbers (TR) and are then recorded.

A method of recording coded motion picture data, in which: video signals (VDIN) are alternatively intraframe coded or interframe coded and are then quantized to provide coded motion picture data (VDREC); and said coded motion picture data (VDREC) are recorded on a predetermined recording medium (CD-MO) for each group of frames (GOF) which includes a predetermined number of intraframe coded or interframe coded frames; characterized in that: said interframe coded frames (B, C) in the group of frames (GOF) of said coded motion picture data (VDREC) to be recorded on said recording medium (CD-MO) are formed only on the basis of said intraframe coded or interframe coded frames in said group of frames (GOF).
