Micro-optical sensor
Abstract
Abstract Translated from German Ein Mikrooptisches Verfahren und ein entsprechender Sensor zum Nachweis chemischer Substanzen in einer Probe. A micro-optical method and a corresponding sensor for the detection of chemical substances in a sample. The sample (4) is brought into contact with the waveguiding layer (2) of an optical layer waveguide (1). Coherent light (6) is injected into the wave-guiding layer, guided as a light wave in it, and this is coupled out again from the layer. The light wave guided in the layer waveguide is coupled in and out with the aid of a multidiffractive grating coupler (Ga, Gb) lying in the plane of the layer, i.e. a lattice structure whose frequency spectrum has several fundamental components. The multidiffractive grating coupler effects a directional separation of decoupled light from reflected (8), transmitted, or directly deflected partial beams. This makes it possible to detect light guided in the wave-guiding layer without background after coupling, although the regions on the wave-guiding layer in which the guided light wave is coupled in and out partially overlap.
