Tissue stimulating device
Abstract
Abstract 2.1 In known devices for stimulating living tissue, the stimulation sensitivity thereof is determined by subjecting the tissue to successive stimulation pulses, in each case of decreasing stimulation energy, until the tissue does not react to the stimulation. 2.2 In order, on the one hand, to adjust the stimulation energy (29) to the changeable stimulation sensitivity (28) and, on the other hand, to keep to a minimum the frequency of the unsuccessful stimulation tests occurring on each determination of the stimulation sensitivity, the determination of the stimulation sensitivity is carried out at periodic intervals Tn, Tn-1 whose duration is measured as a function of the change in the stimulation sensitivity Sn - Sn-1 between the last two determinations of the stimulation sensitivity. 2.3 The new arrangement is preferably a cardiac pacemaker. <IMAGE>
