Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 4
Claim 1
Independent Claim
23 words
A catheter tubing comprising one or more stripes (20, 20a) of a hydrophobic thermoplastic stiffening polymer encapsulated by a hydrophilic thermoplastic polyurethane (22).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
21 words
A tubing of claim 1 further comprising a radiopaque agent dispersed in at least one of the polymer and the polyurethane.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
28 words
A tubing as claimed in claim 1 wherein the stiffening polymer is a polyolefin, polyamide, polyester, polycarbonate, polyurethane of at least 50% hard segment, or liquid crystalline polymer.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
51 words
A catheter tubing according to claim 3 comprising a thermoplastic hydrophobic polyester-polyether block copolymer or polyurethane of at least 50% hard segment having a Shore D hardness of about 50 to 80 encapsulated in a hydrophilic thermoplastic polyetherurethane which is the reaction product of 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate, polytetramethylene ether glycol and 1,4-butanediol.
