Method and device for pulsed operation of high-pressure discharge lamps
Abstract
Abstract A method and device for pulsed operation of high-pressure discharge lamps for improving the technical lighting characteristics, the conditions and circuit arrangement for cyclic operation having to be specified. The pulse current is formed from bipolar latching current pulses and bipolar gating pulses at a frequency below the latching current pulse frequency, there being in each case one phase without current between each individual pulse. When the frequency of the gating pulses is over 100 Hz, the duty ratio is less than 0.2 and the latching current pulse frequency is an integer multiple thereof. Pulse groups are formed, having a plurality of gating pulses. The energy of the gating pulses is increased by connecting a voltage source or charge stores. The associated circuit arrangement is characterised in that, in addition to a charge store (C1) and two switching elements (Th1,Th2), a further switching element (Th3) is arranged in series with a further charge store (C2), or a voltage source is arranged in the lamp circuit.
