Abstract

Abstract A control device such as a numerical controller constituted of a plurality of printed boards on which are mounted various circuit components. Input/output interface connectors (9) are mounted on the printed board (1) in a manner that the lengthwise directions thereof are oriented in the vertical direction relative to the mounting surface of the printed board. Module boards (10) are mounted in the vertical direction relative to the mounting surface of the printed board (1). The module boards (10) have a height nearly equal to the height of the interface connectors (9). This makes it possible to increase the number of circuit components that can be mounted in a unit space, and to decrease the outer size of the whole control device.

Independent Claim 117 words
A control apparatus comprising a plurality of printed circuit boards on which various circuit components are mounted, comprising: I/O interface connectors mounted on said printed circuit boards in such a manner that the lengthwise direction thereof is perpendicular to the mounting surface of said printed circuit boards; and module boards having said circuit components mounted thereon and mounted on said printed circuit boards in such a manner that the mounting surface thereof is perpendicular to the mounting surface of said printed circuit boards; wherein the height of said module boards from the surface of said printed circuit boards is substantially the same as the height of said interface connectors from the surface of said printed circuit boards.

A control apparatus according to claim 1. wherein said module boards comprise a small printed wiring board, said circuit components mounted on said module board satisfy the condition that the number of signal connections thereof is a predetermined number or less, and each of a plurality of said circuit components connected to said module boards realizes a particular function.

A control apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said circuit components are mounted on both surfaces of said module boards.

A control apparatus according to claim 1, 2, or 3, wherein a fan unit is provided to cool said circuit components.
