Abstract

Abstract A recording apparatus includes a recording unit for ejecting an ink to a recording member, a detection unit (5) for detecting a remaining amount of ink, a memory (7) for storing receiving data, and a control unit for controlling an operation of the recording unit to record an image in accordance with the receiving data, and controlling the memory to store image data in the memory. The control unit controls the memory (7) in accordance with an output from the detection unit (5) upon completion of recording of a predetermined volume of data, clears data stored in the memory when the output from the detection unit (5) indicates a present of ink, and preserves data stored in the memory when the output from the detection unit (5) indicates an absence of ink.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 129 words
A recording apparatus comprising:    recording means for ejecting an ink to a recording member; detection means for detecting a remaining amount of ink; storage means for storing receiving data; and control means for controlling an operation of said recording means to record an image in accordance with the receiving data, and controlling said storage means to store image data in said storage means, wherein said control means controls said storage means in accordance with an output from said detection means upon completion of recording of a predetermined volume of data, clears data stored in said storage means when the output from said detection means indicates a present of ink, and preserves data stored in said storage means when the output from said detection means indicates an absence of ink.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 26 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said control means stores, in said storage means, data received after said detection means detects the absence of ink.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 49 words
An apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, further comprising input means for performing a predetermined key input, and wherein said control means reads out data from said storage means in response to the key input from said input means, and controls said recording means to perform image recording.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 20 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the predetermined volume of data is data for a predetermined number of pages.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 14 words
An apparatus according to claim 4, wherein the predetermined number of pages is one.
Claim 6
Independent Claim 68 words
An apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein said recording means comprises a plurality of ejection ports for ejecting the ink, and heat energy generation means, arranged in correspondence with said ejection ports for causing a change in state of the ink by heat ejecting the ink from said ejection ports on the basis of the change in state, and forming flying liquid droplets.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 20 words
An apparatus according to claim 6, wherein the change in state is caused by generation of bubbles by film boiling.
