Abstract
Abstract The present invention provides a magneto-optical disc recording apparatus for writing information signals on a disc in which an external magnetic field generator is moved in close to the disc after commencement of the rotation of the disc and is moved away from the disc before stopping of the rotation of the disc so that so called sticking of the external magnetic field generator to the disc is prevented.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 13
Claim 1
Independent Claim
126 words
A recording apparatus for a magneto-optical disc comprises: a cartridge holder which is moveable toward and away from a chassis; a lifter which is moveable to follow said cartridge holder; an external magnetic field generator which is supported so that it is moveable toward and away from the chassis and is supported in a position separated from a magneto-optical disc of a disc cartridge loaded on said cartridge holder by said lifter; and control means which is operative to move said external magnetic field generator toward said magneto-optical disc via said lift after commencement of the rotation of the magneto-optical disc and which moves said external magnetic field generator away from said magneto-optical disc via said lifter before stopping of the rotation of the magneto-optical disc.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
47 words
A recording apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said external magnetic field generator is supported by a rotatable arm so that said generator is moveable toward and away from a magneto-optical disc and is moveable together with said arm in a radial direction of said magneto-optical disc.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
31 words
A recording apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, wherein said external magnetic field generator is moveable in an outer radial direction of said magneto-optical disc when magneto-optical disc is unloaded.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
32 words
A recording apparatus according to claim 2 or 3, wherein said outer magnetic field generator is mounted on a projection provided on one side of a rotatable arm facing the magneto-optical disc.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
123 words
A recording apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein said recording apparatus further comprises misinsertion detection means, said misinsertion detection means including a misinsertion detection portion which is urged to move in an outer direction of the cartridge holding portion of said cartridge holder by the disc cartridge when the disc cartridge is inserted into said cartridge holder and is engaged with said disc cartridge when said disc cartridge is misinserted for preventing said disc cartridge from being inserted into said cartridge holder, characterised in that said misinsertion detection portion of said misinsertion detection means has a width larger than an opening width of a recess on one side of the disc cartridge on which a notch is formed.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
141 words
A disc cartridge misinsertion preventing mechanism which comprises; a cartridge holder into which the disc cartridge having a notch for determining an insertion direction formed at a corner on one side thereof is insertable and holdable therein; and misinsertion detection means having a misinsertion detection portion which is urged by the disc cartridge to move in an outer direction of a cartridge holding portion of a cartridge holder when said disc cartridge is inserted into said cartridge holder and which is engaged with the disc cartridge for preventing said disc cartridge from being inserted into said cartridge holder when said disc cartridge is misinserted, and in that said misinsertion detection portion of said misinsertion detection means has a width larger than an opening width of a recess provided on one side of the disc cartridge on which a notch is formed.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
73 words
A disc cartridge misinsertion preventing mechanism according to claim 6, wherein said cartridge holder is rotatably provided with shutter opening and closing means having an opening and closing means for opening and closing a shutter of the disc cartridge inserted into said holder and is provided with a spring member having one end thereof mounted on said shutter opening and closing means and the other end thereof mounted on said misinsertion detection means.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
32 words
A disc cartridge misinsertion preventing mechanism according to claim 7, wherein said misinsertion detection means is provided in said cartridge holder so that said misinsertion detection portion projects into said cartridge holder.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
