Abstract

Abstract An electric contact holder base (10) for electric lighters or other gadgets for motor vehicles is provided with a thermic protection against overheating that allows its reutilization. The base (10) has a substantially cylindrical body, permanently fixed to a seat in the passenger's cabin and carries electric contacts for the alimentation of the gadget that is inserted in said cylindrical body. At least as bimetallic spring (13) acts as a holding element of the lighter in the cylindrical body during the resting phase of the same. A bimetallic lamina (16) is the thermic protection device against overheatings; this is a separated element, connected at one end with an electric contact (12), while the other end (17) is facing the wall of the cylindrical body (10) and folded back towards its bottom (18).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 139 words
An electric contact holder base for electric lighters or other gadgets for motor vehicles, provided with a thermic protection against overheating that allows its reutilization, of the kind consisting of a substantially cylindrical body (10) permanently fixed to a seat in the driver's cabin and carrying the electric contacts for the alimentation of the gadget that is inserted in said cylindrical body; at least a bimetallic spring (13) acting as a holding element of the lighter in the cylindrical body during the resting phase of the same; a bimetallic lamina (16) being the thermic protection device against overheatings; characterized in that the metallic lamina (16) is a separated element connected at one end with an electric contact (12) while the other end (17) is facing the wall of the cylindrical body (10) and folded back towards its bottom (18).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 27 words
A base according to claim 1 wherein the bimetallic lamina (16) is pinched between the head of a rivet (14), electrically connected with said electric contact (12).
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 32 words
A base according to claim 2 wherein the free end (17) of the bimetallic lamina (16) is contained between the wall of the cylindrical body (10) and the insulating ceramic element (15).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 35 words
A base according claim 1 characterized in that the bimetallic lamina (16) and the bimetallic spring (13) are made of materials having different characteristics with regard to the respective deflections in function of the temperature.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 34 words
A base according to claim 4 wherein the bimetallic lamina (16) maintains a substantially linear course of the deflection in function of the temperature for higher temperatures in comparison with the bimetallic spring (13).
