Abstract

Abstract In a computer system (10) capable of connecting an IC (Integrated Circuit) card (1), when the IC card (1) is extracted from an IC card holder (2), a door (2a) is opened. A detection signal is output from a detecting circuit (3) to a bus controller (4) by detecting opening of the door (2a). Upon receiving the detection signal, a hold request signal is output from the bus controller (4) to a CPU (Central Processing Unit) (5). In response to the hold request signal, a hold acknowledge signal is output from the CPU (5) to the bus controller (4) after the computer process to be executed is completed. A buffer control signal for disabling a buffer (6) is output from the bus controller (4) by receiving the hold acknowledge signal, thereby interrupting an access signal from the CPU (5), to hold a bus (9).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 77 words
A method for holding a bus at an insert/extract of a process card in a computer, the process card being used to process data, the method characterized by comprising the steps of: determining whether or not the process card is inserted to the computer; determining whether or not the process card is extracted from the computer; and holding the bus in accordance with determination results to inhibit a CPU access to a device connected to the bus.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 77 words
A method for holding a bus at an insert/extract of a process card in a computer, the process card being used to process data, the method characterized by comprising the steps of: determining whether or not the process card is inserted to the computer; determining whether or not the process card is extracted from the computer; and holding the bus in accordance with determination results to inhibit a CPU access to a device connected to the bus.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 17 words
The method according to claim 1, characterized in that the device is directly connected to the bus.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 29 words
The method according to claim 1, characterized by further comprising releasing the held bus in response to a hold release signal, to enable the CPU access to the device.
Claim 5
Independent Claim 124 words
A system for holding a bus at an insert/extract of a process card in a computer, the process card being used to process data, the system characterized by comprising: a process card holder (2) for connecting the process card (1) to the computer (10) to perform a data communication between the computer (10) and the process card (1); determining means (4) for determining whether or not the process card (1) is inserted to the process card holder (2), and determining whether or not the process card (1) is extracted from the process card holder (2); and bus holding means (4) for holding the bus (9) in accordance with determination results to inhibit a CPU access to a device (7) connected to the bus (9).
Claim 6
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 19 words
The system according to claim 4, characterized in that the device (7) is directly connected to the bus (9).
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 35 words
The system according to claim 4, characterized by further comprising releasing means (4) for releasing the held bus (9) in response to a hold release signal, to enable the CPU access to the device (7).
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 34 words
The system according to claim 6, characterized in that the releasing means (4) includes a timer (4a), and the held bus is released after a predetermined period of time elapses using the timer (4a).
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 33 words
The system according to claim 6, characterized in that the system further comprises a keyboard (8), and the held bus is released in response to the hold release signal from the keyboard (8).
