Abstract
Abstract In a liquid crystal projection display apparatus, light emitted from a light source is separated to direct to pixels of a liquid crystal display element and condensed at the center of each pixel with a first microlens array, the light passed through the liquid crytal display element is converted into approximately parallel rays with a second microlens array.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
111 words
A liquid crystal projection display apparatus comprising: a liquid crystal display device having a liquid crystal display element on which pixels are formed in a matrix form; a first microlens array having microlens elements having positive refractive index formed in a matrix and disposed in front of the liquid crystal display device for converging an incident light; a second microlens array having microlens elements having positive refractive index formed in a matrix and disposed behind the liquid crystal display device for converting a light passed through the liquid crystal display device into a parallel light; and a projection lens for projecting the light from the second microlens array onto a screen.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim

A liquid crystal projection display apparatus comprising: a liquid crystal display device having a liquid crystal display element on which pixels are formed in a matrix form; a first microlens array having microlens elements having positive refractive index formed in a matrix and disposed in front of the liquid crystal display device for converging an incident light; a second microlens array having microlens elements having positive refractive index formed in a matrix and disposed behind the liquid crystal display device for converting a light passed through the liquid crystal display device into a parallel light; and a projection lens for projecting the light from the second microlens array onto a screen.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
22 words
An apparatus according to Claim 1, wherein the liquid crystal display device and the first and second microlens arrays are position-adjustably coupled.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
22 words
An apparatus according to Claim 1, wherein the liquid crystal display device and the first and second microlens arrays are fixed together.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
36 words
An apparatus according to Claim 1, wherein the liquid crystal display device is fixed to one of the first and second microlens arrays, and position-adjustably coupled to the other of the first and second microlens arrays.
