Abstract
Abstract A data base system management system having a dictionary for maintaining a list of sets of data associated with each of a plurality of user application programs. The data base access time is decreased by forming a data model of the logical relationship of said list, generating static access modules, creating a secondary data model in a pre-built machine executable format and storing the data model, and in the execution stage accessing the secondary data model and manipulating data values using the secondary data model.

A method of controlling data base access in a data base system having a data base and a data dictionary for maintaining a list of sets of data associated with each of a plurality of user application programs, comprising the steps of: a) forming a data model defining the logical relationships of said list; b) creating a secondary data model in a pre-built machine executable format; and c) storing said secondary data model.
Claim 2
Independent Claim
73 words
A method of controlling data base access in a data base system having a data base and a data dictionary for maintaining a list of sets of data associated with each of a plurality of user application programs, comprising the steps of: a) forming a data model defining the logical relationships of said list; b) creating a secondary data model in a pre-built machine executable format; and c) storing said secondary data model.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
32 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 further including the steps of: d) for the execution stage, accessing said secondary data model, and e) manipulating data values using said secondary data model.
Claim 4
Independent Claim
35 words
A method as claimed in any of claims 1 or 2 wherein between steps a) and b) there is the step of generating static access modules to provide a direct access to the data model.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
33 words
A method as claimed in claim 3 wherein between the steps of forming a data model and generating static access modules there is the step of verifying the correctness of the data model.
Claim 6
Independent Claim
