Abstract

Abstract Method an apparatus for operating a vacuum cleaner which a load state of a cleaner (1) is calculated by a microcomputer (13) from a load current and a rotational speed of a motor (9) and wherein a voltage or a current being applied to the motor (9) is controlled so as to save electric power in at least one of the heavy load state or the light load state of the motor (9).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 147 words
An apparatus for operating a vacuum cleaner in which a speed control unit comprised of a brushless DC motor (9) and an inverter control unit (10) is used in a drive source, wherein a control circuit of said inverter control unit (10) comprises a microcomputer (13), a current detecting circuit (17), a magnetic pole position detecting circuit (12), and a speed command circuit (180), a load state of a cleaner (1) is calculated by said microcomputer (13) from a load current and a rotational speed of said brushless DC motor (9) , and a voltage or a current which is applied to the brushless DC motor (9) is controlled so as to save an electric power in at least one of the heavy load state and the light load state of the brushless DC motor (9) on the basis of the result of the load state calculated.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 102 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein a method of saving the electric power comprising the steps of: controlling the speed by at least two open loops; setting a low output open loop control into a power saving mode; switching a control mode to a high output open loop control in accordance with the value of the load current of said brushless DC motor (9) at this time; and switching the control mode to a low output open loop control in accordance with the value of the rotational speed of the brushless DC motor (9) in the high output open loop control.
Claim 3
Independent Claim 113 words
An apparatus for operating a vacuum cleaner in which a motor (9) and a speed control unit to make a speed of said motor (9) variable are used in a drive source, wherein a control circuit of said speed control unit comprises a microcomputer (13), a current detecting circuit (17), and a speed command circuit (180) , and said microcomputer (13) controls a speed of said motor (9) and detects a load current of the motor (9) in the cleaning state and compares said detected current value with a predetermined minimum current set value and corrects a speed command when the detected current value is smaller than said predetermined minimum current set value.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 37 words
An apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the speed command is corrected so as to keep the rotational speed at the time point when the load current is equal to or smaller than said minimum set current.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 26 words
An apparatus according to claim 3, wherein said motor is a brushless DC motor (9) and said speed control unit is an inverter control unit (10).
