Abstract

Abstract A system and method for use in a digitized audio data editing system for efficiently resequencing the audio data having indexes thereto is described. During resequencing, an audio index range table (58) of such indexes is constructed. The audio index range table provides indications of consecutive index ranges of previously processed indexes. By traversing the audio index range table during resequencing to determine if a current index is a duplicate of any previously processed index corresponding to a previously copied audio segment, the necessity to compare each index with every index previously copied over is avoided, which otherwise becomes increasingly inefficient as more indexes are copied over and thus the number of indexes to compare expands. Time required to process a resequence is accordingly significantly reduced.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 16
Claim 1
Independent Claim 62 words
A method of resequencing digitized audio data in a digitized audio data editing system having original indexes to said data, comprising: generating during said resequencing an audio index range table indicating consecutive ranges of previously processed indexes; and searching said audio index range table to determine if a current index being processed is a duplicate of any of said previously processed indexes.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 62 words
A method of resequencing digitized audio data in a digitized audio data editing system having original indexes to said data, comprising: generating during said resequencing an audio index range table indicating consecutive ranges of previously processed indexes; and searching said audio index range table to determine if a current index being processed is a duplicate of any of said previously processed indexes.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 87 words
A method as claimed in Claim 1 including generating a lookup table; detecting from said search of said audio index table when said current index is included within one of said ranges in said audio index table; searching, in response to said detection, said original indexes starting at a position defined by said audio index table for a match with said current index; and searching said lookup table at said matched table position for a new file offset to said audio data corresponding to said current index.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 15 words
A method as claimed in Claim 2 wherein said position is a minimum table position.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 42 words
A method as claimed in Claim 3 wherein said audio index table includes a plurality of ranges each defined by a minimum and a maximum index of said each range and a different said minimum table position corresponding to each said range.
Claim 6
Independent Claim 37 words
A method as claimed in any preceding claim further including detecting if said current index is within one of being in one of said ranges; and expanding said one of said ranges in response to said detection.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 63 words
A method as claimed in Claim 5 including further detecting when said current index is one greater than a minimum value within a first said range and one less than a maximum value within an adjacent second of said ranges; and consolidating said first and second ranges in said audio index table into a single range in response to said further detecting step.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 50 words
A method as claimed in Claim 3 and Claim 6 wherein each of said first and second ranges includes a respective associated minimum table position; and wherein said consolidating step includes storing the lesser of said minimum table positions in association with said single range in said audio index table.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 63 words
A digitized audio data editing system suitable for resequencing digitized audio data having original indexes to said data, comprising: means for generating during said resequencing an audio index range table indicating consecutive ranges of previously processed indexes; and means for searching said audio index table to determine if a current index being processed is a duplicate of any of said previously processed indexes.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 63 words
A digitized audio data editing system suitable for resequencing digitized audio data having original indexes to said data, comprising: means for generating during said resequencing an audio index range table indicating consecutive ranges of previously processed indexes; and means for searching said audio index table to determine if a current index being processed is a duplicate of any of said previously processed indexes.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 99 words
A digitized audio data editing system as claimed in Claim 8 including means for generating a lookup table; means for detecting from said search of said audio index table when said current index is included within one of said ranges in said audio index table; means for searching, in response to said detection, said original indexes starting at a position defined by said audio index table for a match with said current index; and means for searching said lookup table at said matched table position for a new file offset to said audio data corresponding to said current index.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 19 words
A digitized audio data editing system as claimed in Claim 9 wherein said position is a minimum table position.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 46 words
A digitized audio data editing system as claimed in Claim 10 wherein said audio index table includes a plurality of ranges each defined by a minimum and a maximum index of said each range and a different said minimum table position corresponding to each said range.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 48 words
A digitized audio data editing system as claimed in any of Claims 8 to 11 further including means for detecting if said current index is within one of being in one of said ranges; and means for expanding said one of said ranges in response to said detection.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 71 words
A digitized audio data editing system as claimed in Claim 12 including further means for detecting when said current index is one greater than a minimum value within a first said range and one less than a maximum value within an adjacent second of said ranges; and means for consolidating said first and second ranges in said audio index table into a single range in response to said further detecting step.
Claim 16
Dependent Claim 56 words
A digitized audio data editing system as claimed in Claim 10 and Claim 13 wherein each of said first and second ranges includes a respective associated minimum table position; and wherein said system further includes means for storing the lesser of said minimum table positions in association with said single range in said audio index table.
