Abstract

Abstract A semiconductor cooling device comprising an electrically insulated heat pipe. The cooling device has a metallic block of, e.g., copper or aluminum on which a semiconductor can be mounted, and on the block are provided one or more heat pipes of the same shape and of the same quality in parallel with each other. An electrically insulated cylinder for electric insulation is arranged at a middle portion of each of the heat pipes, and a plurality of heat-radiating fins of, e.g., copper or aluminum are fitted onto the heat-radiating portion. A plurality of spiral grooves are formed in the inner peripheral surface of the heat pipes of the heat-radiating portion, the spiral grooves being tilted in one direction with respect to the axis of the pipe. In the inner peripheral surface of the heat pipes in the heat input portion are formed a plurality of first spiral grooves tilted in one direction with respect to the axis of the pipe and a plurality of second spiral grooves tilted in the opposite direction in a crossing manner.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 165 words
An electrically insulating heat pipe semiconductor apparatus which comprises: a plurality of first metal pipes extending parallel to each other and each having open and closed ends; a plurality of second metal pipes extending parallel to each other and each having open and closed ends; electrically insulating pipes each connected between the open ends of said first and second metal pipes so that said first and second metal pipes communicate with each other; a heat conductive block, connected to said second metal pipes, for mounting a semiconductor; radiating fins mounted on said first metal pipes; and an electrically insulating operating fluid sealed in said heat pipe, wherein first grooves are formed on an inner circumferential surface of each of said first metal pipes so as to be inclined in one direction with respect to a longitudinal axis of said heat pipe, and second and third grooves are formed on an inner surface of each of said second metal pipes so as to cross each other.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 25 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said first grooves are inclined through an angle of 2° to 10° with respect to the longitudinal axis.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 33 words
An apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, wherein said second and third grooves cross each other at an angle of 4° to 90°. 4. An apparatus according to claim 3, wherein said
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 36 words
second grooves cross the longitudinal axis of said heat pipe at an angle of 2° to 45°, and said third grooves cross the longitudinal axis of said heat pipe at an angle of 2° to 45°.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 22 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein at least one of said first, second, and third grooves has a V-shaped sectional shape.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 22 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein at least one of said first, second, and third grooves has a rectangular sectional shape.
