Abstract

Abstract Wire composed of a metallic core having a high electrical conductivity and possessing good mechanical properties, covered by a superposition of numerous thin layers containing a metal having a low melting and vaporisation point, such as zinc, which are separated by a highly conducting metal, such as copper. These two metals interdiffuse in the adjacent layers during the use of the wire as electrode tool in an electrical discharge wire cut machine.
