Abstract

Abstract The invention relates to a storable coating element for electrical cable joints to be applied to several cables of different outer diameters, comprising a tubular support (11) and a sleeve (10) fitted thereon, in which the sleeve has one or more coaxial layers (10a, 10b, 10c) consisting of compounds of cross-linked polymeric materials, at least one of which (10b) is electrically insulating, and is fitted on the tubular support (11) under conditions of elastic radial expansion: the sleeve has a wall of great thickness and is expanded in a range comprised between a minimum value (D m ) given by an imposed expansion value corresponding to an instantaneous elastic return adapted to cause a predetermined degree of elastic interference with the smallest one of the intended cables, and a maximum value (D Ram ) corresponding to a permissible expansion value with respect to the ultimate expansion of the material used.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 196 words
A storable coating element for electrical cable joints, to be applied to several cables of different outer diameters, comprising a tubular support (11) and a sleeve (10) fitted thereon, which sleeve has one or more coaxial layers (10a, 10b, 10c) consisting of compounds of cross-linked polymeric materials, at least one of which (10b) is electrically insulating and has a thickness of at least 6 mm, and is fitted on the tubular support (11) under conditions of elastic radial expansion, wherein the sleeve wall has an overall thickness equal to or greater than 8 mm, characterised in that at least the insulating layer (10b) in the sleeve is in a state of radial expansion on the tubular support (11) comprised between a minimum value (Dm) corresponding to an instantaneous residual deformation, after a stay of 24 months at room temperature under expanded conditions, which brings to a predetermined degree of elastic interference with the smallest one of the intended cables, and a maximum value (D Ram ) corresponding to a permissible expansion value with respect to the ultimate expansion of the material used, determined by maintaining a given expansion for at least 6 months at room temperature.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 196 words
