Abstract
Abstract The franking machine has, in addition to a main memory, a background memory, by which the storage content of the main memory is taken over during the opening of the housing or of a housing cover of the franking machine. The return of the storage content to the main memory takes place after the closing of the housing or of the housing cover. The exchange of the memory contents is initiated by the signal from an electrical switch provided on the housing. The background memory ensures that the accounting of postage values with the Post Office cannot be falsified as a result of service work.
